The eContentPlus co-funded Project VARIAZIONI is a Content Enrichment Project to promote the reuse and enrichment of existing musical digital assets in new applications like e-courses, webs, articles, etc., new distribution channels, and new media such as web 2.0, interactive TV, IPTV, with the benefit of increased accessibility and return on investment.

VARIAZIONI combines the distributed creation and tagging of content in user communities with the power of reusing this content in other communities. The project VARIAZIONI integrates a collaborative platform where users can contribute to the creation, enrichment, cataloguing and tagging of musical contents. The project aims to improve the Musical Metadata Tagging and its quality through the definition of a Common European Musical Metadata and through a collaborative tagging and enrichment process that combine automatic and manual tagging with automatic enrichment using next generation of mashup web services.
